The Great Commission is not a calling for a few. It is the assignment of the Church.

The Greeters

Welcoming People Into the Family of God

Long before someone feels like they belong, they need someone who makes them feel welcome.

Greeters reflect the heart of Christ by creating environments where people are seen, valued, encouraged, and loved. Whether welcoming a first-time guest, building relationships with international students, hosting a meal, discipling a new believer, or simply offering a listening ear, they remind people that the Gospel is experienced as much as it is proclaimed.

They don’t just open doors.

They open hearts.

Who Are the Greeters?

Greeters are the encouragers, hosts, disciplers, and relationship builders within the Body of Christ. They naturally create spaces where people feel accepted, connected, and cared for.

Some serve at the front doors of a church.

Others welcome missionaries returning from the field.

Some host Bible studies in their homes.

Others build friendships with refugees, immigrants, international students, or neighbors who have never experienced authentic Christian community.

Why Greeters Matter

Throughout His ministry, Jesus continually welcomed people who felt forgotten, overlooked, and excluded. He shared meals with sinners, embraced children, cared for the outcast, and invited ordinary people into extraordinary relationships.

The early Church followed that example.

Their love for one another became one of the greatest testimonies to the world.

People weren’t just drawn to the message they preached. They were drawn to the community they experienced.

That same opportunity exists today.

Many people encounter the love of Christ for the first time because someone chose to welcome them before expecting anything in return.

What Do Greeters Do?

Greeters create environments where relationships can flourish and discipleship can begin.

They may:

  • Welcome first-time guests
  • Build meaningful relationships
  • Host small groups or gatherings
  • Encourage missionaries and mission teams
  • Serve international students and refugees
  • Follow up with new believers
  • Mentor and disciple others
  • Create a culture of hospitality within the church
  • Help people feel seen, known, and valued

Often, the smallest acts of kindness become the first steps in someone’s journey with Christ.

The Heart of a Greeter

Greeters understand that hospitality is more than being friendly.

It’s creating space for people to encounter the love of God.

They notice the person standing alone.

They remember names.

They ask thoughtful questions.

They celebrate life together.

They help transform strangers into friends, guests into family, and believers into disciples.

Their greatest joy comes from helping people know they belong.

How Greeters Strengthen the Ecosystem

Greeters bring warmth and community to the entire 5G Ecosystem.

They welcome those whom the Goers reach.

They encourage the Groaners who faithfully pray.

They help Givers see the lives being impacted through their generosity.

They create opportunities for Gatherers to connect people into meaningful relationships and ministry.

Without authentic community, mission can become transactional.

Greeters remind us that God’s Kingdom has always been about people.

Their ministry helps ensure that every person who encounters the Gospel also experiences the love of Christ through His Church.

Every person longs to belong.

A warm smile. A genuine conversation. An open home. An encouraging word.

These simple acts often become the beginning of someone’s lifelong journey with Jesus.
